Learning objectives
The objectives of the course is to introduce the students to the whole structure of EU cohesion policies and provide them with the tools for critical analysis.

The course covers the European Union cohesion policies. It examines the different features of the policies and the impact they have had to date in the lesser advanced regions of the Union. The debate carried out at European level on the concerning the strengths and limits of these policies will be illustrated

It refers to the text by Gianfranco Viesti and Francesco Prota edited by Mulino in 2004 "Le politiche regionali dell'Unione Europea". It will also use texts published by the European Commission available from the EC website
Teaching methods
The teaching method includes both classroom lessons and the analysis and collective discussion of documents in the classroom. The examination is written, with two questions of a general nature on the topics covered in the classroom
