Acquiring of essential knowledge of Latin literature and developing of a pathway, a theme and an author through the reading of translated texts

Course unit content

<p>The purpose of the course is to describe the features of the ancient novel against which background the main characteristics of the latin novels (Satyricon and Metamorphosis) will be described.<br />
Compulsory introductory part: History of Latin literature. Students must have basic knowledge of Latin literature in general and more in-depth knowledge of the main authors.<br />
Independent reading: reading in translation of Apueius' Metamorphosis or of Satyricon and chapters 4-6 of Metamorphosis<br />
