Integrated course unit module: GENERAL AND CLINICAL PATHOLOGY

Learning objectives

Basic knowledge of damage response processes and their alterations, with particular emphasis on radiation damage.  Acquisition of terminological competences.

Course unit content

The course will focus on the following topics: 1. Cell death mechanisms; 2. The inflammatory response: signs and phenomena of acute inflammation, mechanisms of exudate formation, types of exudate, phagocytosis, chronic inflammation and granulomas, abscesses, ulcers, chemical mediators of inflammation, fever; 3. Pathogenetic effects of ionizing radiations: radiosensitivity, radiation damage, radioresistance mechanisms.
