Learning objectives
Art is not only the result of cultural states and changes: but is also a protagonist of invention or accentuation of meaning, style and ideas that promote, initially, new nuclei of aesthetic truth and, finally, more or less ample coagulations of cultural features which, directly or indirectly, end up modifying our vision of the world. With this perspective, which presents the theme of representation in a different light, as an analytical category that is not purely critical but genetic, the course analyses artistic reproduction in various versions. Picturesque language, presented as translation technology of the ‘visions’ of the artist in the work, recover in this way an important role of connection between the individual and culture, aesthetic and sociology.

Within a theory of the artificial, which is employed as an instrument for genetic and evolutionary interpretation of artistic practice, sufficient descriptive and explanatory elements can be found to advance hypotheses on the dynamics of cultural subsystems, through which art organises its very existence and relationship with the rest of culture.
The course is organised in a 6 credit module.
