Learning objectives

To learn the basic concepts on sustainable management of the physic environment, in respect to various problems concerning the environmental geology, in particular caused by georesources exploitation and waste management. Analysis of the geosites as elements of the environmental improvement and development inside territorial planning.

Course unit content

 Introduction: concept di sustainibility applied to problems of the environmentalgeology. <br />
Energy and georesources: introduction, types of georesources (norenewables / renewables ), characteristics, availability, future reserves, ecc. <br />
Geologic landscape: general concepts and methods for geosites selection. Geotourism: cultural and economic environmental promotion. <br />
Conseguences of the quarry activity: inherent legislation, local impact assessement, relationship with water tables. Abandoned quarries and methodologies of recovered. <br />
Human impact on e the environment: the waste management and its conseguences on the environment. Waste types, inherent legislation ,waste disposal, waste and pollution. Some example of environmental restoration. <br />
