Learning objectives

The student will have to know (i) the main biomolecular methods to describe and classify the animals and (ii) the main methods required to use the molecular data banks.

 Main characterization methods of proteins and nucleic acids - Mitochondrial DNA transmission and evolutionary features of their genes and non-coding sequence - features and variability of nuclear ribosomal genes-  "DNA Barcoding", new and simple qualitative method for classify organisms - Practical use of molecular data banks and taxonomic establishment of biological samples
