Course unit content
Course title: Latter twentieth-century and contemporary theatre. <br />
<br />
A course of an institutional nature on contemporary scene culture, in a European dimension. The methodology and sources for study; the main fields of theatrical action, from theatre as an artistic experience and cultural product to theatre as a tool of social action, education and expression; study and analysis of significant practices.<br />

Teaching methods
<p>The teaching method alternates between classroom lectures and lessons in which students take an active part, and with collective analysis of dramatic and stage texts (photographs or videos). <br />
Students are asked to read part of the reading list programme during the course, so that the group analysis of a few of the texts is of integral importance to the lessons.</p>
<p>Assessment: both oral and written exams: writing up a “diary of theatre observation” is obligatory, starting with one performance seen (in agreement with the professor), and then according to the guidelines attached to the lecture notes (see bibliography). Apart from the evaluation of the diary, there will be an examination, during the oral exam, of the critical assimilation of the arguments discussed in lessons and the study of the bibliography. <br />
