Learning objectives
The course will be dedicated to the analysis of the “fundamental principles” underlying the form of the State and Government of the Italian Republic, with discussion on reforms involving the Constitution and other areas, the process of European integration, and other topical subjects.
Prerequisites
The exam will be taken in the second year of the course, together with Constitutional Law 2.

Society, Law, Constitution, State, European Union; the State’s relations with other sovereign institutions; the evolution of forms of State and Government; sources of Law; the formation and historical vicissitudes of the Italian State; general characteristics of the Italian Constitution and its fundamental principles; the organization of the Italian Republic; the people; the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic; Italy’s two-chamber system and prospects regarding reform; electoral laws; the President of the Republic; the Government; auxiliary Organs; the Supreme Magistrate’s Council; the fundamental functions of the State; constitutional power and revision of the Constitution; forms of political independence; constitutional freedoms; Regions and other local authorities, the federal reform of the State.

Method of assessment <br />
Assessment is performed by means of a single oral exam, taken in the second course year, whose subject will be the syllabus of Constitutional Law I and II. <br />
