Learning objectives
Learning of models for the analysis of family relationships and processes characterized by the methodological principles of complexity, multiprocessuality, plurality needed to understand the specificities of contemporary families.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the basic elements of Family Psychology: patterns of interactions, relational dynamics, and developmental processes in families

Course unit content
The many and varied types of family compositions currently existing also in the Italian social context are characterized by several discontinuities: parents and spouses, spatial and emotional boundaries, gender and family roles may not correspond. Families, moreover, may also be intercultural and parenthood is not necessarily limited to or defined in biological terms.
The dynamics of interpersonal relations developing from this type of discontinuities is the main subject of the analysis that will be developed during the course. This analysis will also include a systematic reconsideration of the theoretical reference and models used in the study of the families.
Special attention will be paid to the consequences that this change of perspective has on the models of intervention enacted and applied by the psycho-social agencies dealing with family issues
