Learning objectives

Teach students the pathophysiological bases, clinics and therapeutic principles of the main pictures/syndromes of surgical interest. <br />

Course unit content

 The biological response to aggressive events (stress). Homeostasis, water-electrolyte and acid-base balance. Malnutrition and artificial nutrition. Shock. Hemorrhage and hemostasis. Surgery and Immunity. Thrombosis and embolism. Surgery and infections. Lesions caused by physical (mechanical, thermal, radiating) and chemical agents. Elementary lesions. Tumours. Transplants and grafts. Surgical intervention (genera details). <br />
