Learning objectives

<br />Identify health and safety risks related to work activities:<br /><br /><br />Assess the risks linked to the organisation of work and to the exposure to chemical, physical and biological agents:<br /><br />Discuss the meaning and the use of environmental exposure limits<br /><br />Describe the main standards and legal provisions on medicine, hygiene and safety in the workplace.<br /><br />Define the meaning of the main parameters for the assessment of the toxicological properties of chemical substances <br /><br />Interpret the meaning of: dose, effect, toxicokinetics, absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, toxicodynamics, target tissue/organ, metabolic activation, latency period:<br /><br />Define the meaning and understand the use of biological exposure indicators<br /><br />Assess the main dose and effect indicators and their modification depending on the different occupational risks <br /><br />Acute and chronic intoxications;<br /><br />Identify the main occupational diseases;<br /><br />Organ pathology;<br /><br />Occupational neoplastic diseases;<br /><br />Assess concausal role of the working activity in the genesis of common diseases;<br /><br />Identify clinical signs of medical emergencies occurring as consequences of acute exposure;<br /><br />Concausal effect of the working activity in the genesis of common diseases such as pulmonary diseases, osteoarthropathies, gastroenteropathies, cardiopathies, neurological, psychiatric and psychosomatic diseases;;
