<br />This core module aims to provide students with an understanding of the basic principle of general pathology related to normal and disordered cell growth .

Course unit content

<br />Lectures will cover the following topics:<br />- hypertrophy, hyperplasia, metaplasia and neoplasia;<br />- differences between benign and malignant meoplasms;<br />- radiation carcinogenesis, chemical and viral carcinogenesis;<br />- oncogenes and cancer suppressor genes;<br />- behaviour of tumors including local effects, metastasis and non metastatic systemic effects.<br />
