Learning objectives
Students are expected to learn the general principles of pelvic floor re-education, ascending infections following the vaginal pathway, sexually transmitted diseases, the use of preventive programmes for pregnant women, the couple, and the product of conception. In addition, students will learn the principles of health planning and organization in the maternity and infancy sector, with particular regard to the obstetric and gynaecological areas. Students must be familiar with existing legislation for the protection of working mothers, and for the provision of help for women from outside the European Union.

Taking samples of biological vaginal secretions (vaginal swabs), prevention of HIV propagation: guidelines, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. <br />
Pelvic floor dysfunctions: sanitary education, the prevention and treatment of dysfunctions, the clinical evaluation of the pelvic floor, the urinary diary. Perineal re-education: kinesitherapy, electrostimulation, biofeedback, bladder retraining, vaginal cones. The perineum during pregnancy, birth and infant care. The role performed by the obstetrician in prevention and re-education as applied to perineal problems. Self-catheterization. <br />
The protection of working mothers: legislation. Help for women from outside European Union countries. The obstetrician in the hospital company, the obstetrician in the local health service, the obstetrician as a professional, independent consultant. <br />
Regional health programming. The Project for Objectives of Maternity and Infancy (P.O.M.I), Essential Assistance Levels (L.E.A.) <br />
