Integrated course unit module: APTITUDE AND INSTRUMENTAL EVALUATION FOR SPORT

Learning objectives

In the last decade, it has been largely developed the functional assessment of the athlete with a set of techniques that, through the collection of objective data, brings to the specific planning of the training. The instrument used is the Test performed to obtain the desired information in a quantitative way. Through the functional evaluation tests the physical, physiological characteristsics the athlete are measured in relation to age, gender, degree of skill and practiced the sport, the role (in team sports) and the degree of training.
The aim of this course is to empower the student to know: anthropometric techniques, testing the overall evaluation (investigating the basic physical qualities such as power, strength, speed, endurance), the method used to prepare specific assessment tests (high technical content, tailored to the specific needs of each athlete), laboratory tests (performed in controlled environments with equipment that simulate the sport), the field tests.
Students must also successfully adapt the functional evaluation at different ages (children at various stages of development, adult, elderly) and the stabilized conditions of different diseases (the pediatric special reference to obesity and asthma / hyperglycemia).

Course unit content

Anthropometric techniques, testing the overall evaluation (investigating the basic physical qualities such as power, strength, speed, endurance), the method used to prepare specific assessment tests (with high technical content, tailored to the specific needs of each athlete), the laboratory tests (performed in controlled environments with equipment that simulate sports activities), the field tests.
Specifically, the student must know:
1. Anthropometric tests (body fat / lean mass)
2. Assessment of anaerobic threshold (Conconi test)
3. Evaluation of the explosive power of lower limbs (Bosco test)
4. Isokinetic evaluation
5. Cardio-respiratory tests (6-minute-walk-test, Cooper test, test of Margaria, the cycle ergometer tests)
