Learning objectives
Give to the student calculus abilities which can be useful also in other courses. Draw and understand graphs of function, also in connection with their meaning in the applications.
Prerequisites
Logical and formal calculation abilities, learnt at high school.
Course unit content
Sets and numbers. Vectors and geometry of the plane. The concept of function and graphs of functions. Elementary functions (linear, quadratic, powers). Exponential function, logarithm and trigonometric functions. Limits and asymptotic behaviour. Variation and derivative. Basics of probability and statistics.

Teaching methods
Lessons for the theoretical part. Exercises in the framework of the IDEA project. The examination consists in a written test with exercises. The oral examination is optional.
