Course unit content

The course is principally focused on the deconstruction and analysis of a series of products with specific features in function of: i) a growing level of complexity in terms of number of parts, ii) a progressively increasing integration of their mechanical, thermal and electrical aspects. Product disassembly reveals the functions performed by the various components, the physical phenomena utilised, the designer’s approach and the various skills required for the product’s design. The course encourages the use of the various graphic representational techniques available to designers (from sketches to CAD, and software tools for the compilation of technical reports.
