Learning objectives
Beginning from the example of a local situation, this course aims to examine the salient aspects of a wider phonomenon evident in Italy fron the seventeenth-century to the current day.
Course unit content
<p> Mod. A: Taking the case of Parma as a starting-point, the following aspects of Italian musical life from the sixteenth to the twenty-first century will be analysed: <br />

- production and representation <br />

- spaces: theatres and concert halls, open-air spaces, virtual spaces <br />
<br />
- technology: instruments, stage-craft, sound reproduction devices <br />
<br />
- communication: performances, diffusion of information orally or through the press, reproduction, mass-media <br />
<br />
- protagonists: authors, interpreters, performers, managers, officials, communicators, audiences <br />
<br />
- language: forms and genres <br />

Mod. B: The second part of the course will explore selected topics from the first module in greater depth, through the analysis of sound and audio-visual materials. </p>
