Acquisition of the methodological, literary and language skills required for independent research.

Prerequisites

Students must have acquired at least 10 credits in the Latin language and literature SDA. Students who have already gained 15 credits in the same SDA must pass a preliminary written entry exam.

Course unit content
Within the context of the satire of Lucilius and Juvenal, the course will examine significant passages in relation to the so-called indignatio from the metrical, stylistic and content point of view, which is not the prerogative of Juvenal alone. The hypothesis to be demonstrated is that so-called “Bakhtinian double-voicing” may be paralleled by a “tragic double-voicing” in the indignatio.

In-depth examination and discussion of topics assigned for individual research projects.
