Course unit content

Course title: Publication and criticism of the musical text. <br />
The National Edition of the works of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina will form the subject of observation of the course, which will define the concept of critical edition of a musical text, drawn from concordant sources for the purpose of correct interpretation in performance. In particular the course will discuss the circumstances through which the critical text reaches a plausible definition in historical and exegetic terms, and will explore issues connected with correct performance practice. <br />
