Learning objectives

Students will acquire basic knowledge of the history of Latin literature and will study a given topic or writer in detail through a reading of translated texts.

Course unit content

 Course title: The theme of the journey in Latin literature of the Republican Age. <br />
The theme of the journey is present in Latin literature from its origins, with the 'translation' of the Odyssey by Livius Andronicus. The course will provide a brief outline of its diffusion in Latin literature of the Republican Age, focusing on texts in which the journey is present as an existential image. <br />
General part: History of Latin literature from its origins until the end of the Imperial Age. <br />
