Learning objectives

Knowledge of the fundamental features of European Mediaeval history, and the political and institutional development of the commune in Italy.

Course unit content

Italian Mediaeval history in the age of the communes: institutions and political languages. After presenting the fundamental stages and aspects of the Mediaeval period, the specialist course will analyse political and institutional developments in Italian cities in the 12th and 13th centuries.
