Learning objectives

The course aims to reconstruct the evolution of Italian industrial capitalism from unification to the 1990s. The course will detail structural and organisational changes, the function of the State and the contribution to economic development of the country as a whole. The keys to interpretation will be proposed through a comparative analysis with other national case studies, in order to highlight the specific processes of Italian industrialisation, linked particularly to the role of small businesses and the State.
