Learning objectives
<br />The main aim of the course is provinding the basic of legal, constitutional cultures and institutions, and the regime of rights which govern them in our contemporary democracies. Philosophical studies need to be complemented by legal learning, espcially socio-legal studies, falling between traditional law and philosophy
Prerequisites
Attendance of the course on General Sociology, Department of Scienze della Formazione, is reccomanded as a prerequisite to Sociology of Law.
Course unit content
<br />This course offers a critical reconstruction of the institutional and cultural aspects of justice systems in a comparative and historical setting. The problems of the interaction between the powers, the executive, judiciary and legislative, acquire a key salience in the case of corruption undermining the protection of fundamental rights. The course offers an analysis of a number of critical case-studies in the area

Teaching methods
<br />Teaching methods, in advanced course, do by necessity require detailed analyis of cases that demand careful studies and therefore a number of papers assigned ad hoc.<br />A combination of seminar work and conventional teaching appears to be the most appropriate method.<br />Evaluation is therefore the result of everyday workk, attendance, discussion, written contribution and the final exam.
