Learning objectives
The course will particularly emphasis the area of subordinate employment. The material will be explored from two aspects: from a trade union viewpoint by examining collective bargaining and trade union activities; and under the profile of individual employment by studying the birth, the course and the end of an employment contract. Employment in companies will be highlighted. The reason for this choice, besides the obvious in that employment within companies is widespread, is the need to link the material covered during the course with other legal subjects which, directly or indirectly, study companies. A part of the course will be dedicated to public administration employment which, over the last few years, has become more similar to the private sector (the “privatisation” of public sector).

Course unit content
The course contains four parts: <br />
The first will be dedicated to the origins of labour and trade union laws and will examine the constitutional principles on the subject of labour. <br />
The second will be dedicated to trade union law with particular emphasis on the freedom and activities of trade unions as well as the right to strike and collective bargaining. <br />
The third part of the course will be dedicated to individual work relationships: the labour market, employment of workers, employment contracts, new types of contracts, workers’ obligations, employers’ obligations (with specific emphasis on salary), individual and collective lay-offs, company transfers, workers’ rights upon cessation of employment. <br />
The fourth part will examine public administration employment, with particular emphasis on public management. <br />
