Elementary knowledge of the principles and of the technique for the color measurement on objects classified as cultural, for the restoration and conservation. Optimal illumination of art objects for the preservation, study and enjoiment.

Elements of physiology of the visual system. CIE standard illuminants and standard light sources. Radiometric quantities (International System). Photometric quantities (CIE 1924 and CIE 1988 standard photometric observers). Tristimulus space and conventional observers (CIE31, CIE64) and reference frames (RGB, XYZ, LMS, …). Psychometric systems CIE 1976 (CIELAB and CIELUV). Spectral reflectance factor measurement. Colorimetric computations (CIE and ASTM norms). Colour-difference formulae (CMC, CIE 94, CIE 2000). Colourant formulation (eq. K-M-S). Screen plate printing (Neugebauer equation). Television, computer monitor, digital camera, scanner (sRGB standard). Metamerism index, whiteness index, tint index, gloss factor. Fluorescent colours. Colour atlases (Munsell, DIN, OSA-UCS, NCS). Colorimetry and Cultural Goods.
