Learning objectives

<br />The purpose of the course is to know the 'pathogenic microrganisms', their mode of action, their structural characteristics, the metabolic pathways activated to gain an infectious cycle, the determinants of pathogenicity, the mechanisms to contrast host defensesspecifiche e specifiche.

<br /> <br />General bacterial taxonomy.<br />Bacterial structures, metabolic pathways, bacterial growth.<br />Bacterial strctures and mechanisms of bacterial growth activated in relation to the environment.<br />Bacterial genetic and determinants of resistence.<br />Systematic taxonomy of microrganisms: bacteria, fungi, parasites.<br />Pathogens and related mechanisms of pathogenicity and virulence.<br />Antimicrobial agents.<br />General concepts of determination of susceptibility and resistance to antimicrobial compounds.<br />Concepts of immune system and activation of its elements against pathogens.<br />Non-specific defense and activation of the natural host defense.<br />¿ Killing¿ performed by macrophages and granulocytes .<br />
