Learning objectives

The aim of the course is to give students in-depth knowledge about the vertebrates of the Italian fauna in terms of biology, distribution and state of conservation of populations.

Prerequisites

Fauna and environment. General information on Italian fauna. Environments and fauna in the Italian landscape. <br />

Autochthonous species and populations. Endemites. Historical development of knowledge about Italian vertebrates. <br />

Cyclostomes and bony fish of inland waters. Cartilaginous fish and bony marine fish. Amphibians. Reptiles. Birds. Mammals. Origins of Italian fauna. Conservation of Italian fauna. Prey-predator relationships in carnivores.
