Learning objectives
During this course ,the student learns to make useof measurement techniqies and to discuss critically the obtained data

Prerequisites

MECCANICA I- Lab. di MECCANICA- Lab. di INFORMATICA Introductory corse in elementary calculus

Course unit content
Introductios to error analysis II.nd part.
Least-squares method. Best fitting of linear and non-linear functions.
Covariance and correlation: correlation coefficient.
Reminds of combinatorial analysis. Bernoulli distribution and its asyntotic approximation to Gauss distribution.
Poisson distribution. Application: radioactive countings and decays.
Test for a distribution.
Calibration of a Fe-Constantane termocouple by using fixed reference points (solid-liquid-vapour phase transitions) of different substances (water, indium, gallium, mercury, air).
Experimental determination of the (average) specific heat of metals by making use a liquid nitrogen calorimeter.
Determination of the specific heat change of a metal (alluminum) at low temperature by making use of a Nernst calorimeter.
Study of a black-body radiation: determination of Stefan constant.
