<br />Learning priciples and methods of strategic environmental assessment in support of planning. Developing the necesary skill to:<br />- highlight critical environmental issues in the planning process;<br />- to compile an Environmental Strategic Assessment report;<br />- to critically review Environmental Strategic Assessment report.
Prerequisites
Knowledge in the field of Environmental Impact Assessment.

<br />Introduction<br />The European regulation; <br />Italian legislation; <br />Legislation of the Regione Emilia Romagna .<br />Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment<br />environmental compatibiity and sustainability; <br />single and cumulative impacts. Scenario analysis; <br />making technical and political iussus compatible; <br />public participation.<br />Strategic planning and decision support systems<br />The articulation of decisonal process; <br />methodological tools: environmental and socio-economic assessment, generating alternatives, predicting the outcomes, indicators, alternative comparison and making chioice .<br />Application of the methodologies in a regional context.<br />Sustainability assessment as a tool for territorial management. <br />Case study
