Prerequisites
Knowledge of the basic elements of developmental psychology

Course unit content
The main theoretical approaches to cultural psychology will be presented, with the aim to better understand the links between individual development and cultural processes. Different conceptions of the notion of culture will be discussed, with particular reference to some models: psychocultural models, the ecological theory, and the historical cultural theory. These theories will be useful for a discussion of several themes of developmental psychology, like education, gender, learning and cognitive processes.
