Integrated course unit module: FUNDAMENTALS OF DRAWING

Learning objectives

Objectives
The course is designed to enable students to master IT systems for the study of spatial reality and automated representation programmes, by means of the following areas of study:
- the fundamental concepts of 2-dimensional, and possibly 3-dimensional, design, and geometrical modelling for architectural forms;
- mastery of the major IT graphic design tools for architecture;
- knowledge of the conventions of two-dimensional representation and technical drawing;
- developing a capability for studying and manipulating architectural forms using a simplified, independently-constructed virtual model.
Teaching methods

Criteria for assessment and admission to final examination:
Student assessment will be based on the following criteria:
• active participation during lessons;
• punctual consignment of all home study exercises set by the professors;
• punctual consignment of all lecture-room exercises;
• notebooks;
• satisfactory assessment of the 2 unprepared tests that will be performed in the lecture hall.

Materials necessary to take the examination, and which will themselves also be taken into consideration for assessment:
exercises: all students are required to collect their exercises previously consigned or performed in the lecture and successively returned by the professors; during the examination, every student shall consign all the exercises performed, duly bound, with a cover personalized as desired;
notebook: all students shall consign their notebooks, in A4 format, which must contain their course notes and the results of any eventual individual study;

Exercises delivered late will not be accepted under whatever circumstances and for whatever reason.

1. All exercises will be assessed by professors.
2. Unprepared tests are obligatory for all students.
3. A single unprepared recuperation test will be provided for students who have not attained a satisfactory mark in the preceding tests. For those who have not reached a pass mark, the examination is accompanied by a practical test to be taken in the lecture room. Passing this test is a mandatory condition for participation in the final examination.
