Learning objectives
<p>The course aims to provide students with the theoretical concepts and practical instruments in order to understand the most important communication methods and their meaning. <br />

Course unit content
<p>The course will be conducted by analysing communication, starting with research data, discussing concepts and the main lines of interpretation with students, and by using the tool of role-play. <br />
The following topics will be explored: <br />
Personality and adaptation; <br />
Perception; <br />
Needs and motivation; <br />
The group; <br />
The voice and the body and how they communicate with others; <br />
Communicative competence: linguistic, paralinguistic, kinesics, proxemics, social-cultural; <br />
Social competence; <br />
Communication: the process and the variables, the ability to send and interpret messages, elements and functions, axioms; <br />
Metacommunication: nonverbal and paraverbal channels, proxemics, appearance, posture, expressions, gestures, look, body orientation, handshakes; <br />
Analysis of: protected zones and parts of the body which are more expressive, styles of behaviour, assertivity, personal rights charter, protection abilities, listening and supporting techniques. <br />
