Integrated course unit module: GENERAL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Learning objectives

The student must recognize some eucaryotic cells in-vitro and remember the composition of some growth media. Moreover he must know the physical-chemical methods applied to protein purification and characterization. Finally, he must know the experimental conditions to obtain enzyme kinetics in order to interpret correctly the assays in enzyme diagnostics.

Prerequisites

The student must pass the 1st year - 1st semester exams of Chemistry before being admitted to Technology and biotechnology exam

Course unit content

This course will show the techniques involved in eucaryotic cell cultivation and cell transfection, cloning and hybrid production. Moreover, practical demonstrations of protein purification and characterizations will be presented. Finally, some examples of enzyme kinetics are shown and some enzyme assays which are particularly significant to clinical disgnostics are carried out.
