Course unit content

The module will concern environmental sustainability applied to processes, products and servicies, of particular interest for biotechnology.

-Environmental legislation at EU and national level
-Environmental sustainability balance
-Norms UNI EN ISO 14001 and EMAS
-Best available techniques (BAT)
-Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
-Carbon Footprint
-Environmental labels
-Integrated product and service policy
-Environmental authorisations (AIA, EUA)
-Principles for eco-planning
-Raw matters and use of resources
-Innovative materials at low environmental impacts, biodegradable and compostable materials
-Conformity of processes, products to environmental regulations

The Elly platform will collect all the material of the lectures, and text for reference.

Teaching methods

The teaching activity is based on front lectures with slides. Remote approaches (complete or blended) will be considered in cae of health emergency.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam requires delivery of an original essay concerning the application to a real industrial case. The detailed methods will be explained during the course.
