Learning objectives

At the end of the course the student should:
-know and understand business texts (Knowledge and understanding)
-use business English expressions (Applying knowledge and understanding)
-formulate judgements on economic topics. (Making judgements)
-communicate and interact in English effectively and with a degree of fluency and spontaneity in every day business situations (communication skills and learning skills)

Course unit content

The course prepares the student to acquire an upper-intermediate level of competences to be used in the world of work. So during the exam the student will be asked to use English effectively in every day business situations .

The course will lead the student to understand and analyze a complex business text taken from financial newspapers. Moreover, he/she should communicate in English effectively in every day business situations and with a degree of fluency and spontaneity; he/she should also be able to explain his/her viewpoint on articles taken from The Financial Times.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written and oral assessment.
The written assessment will consists of exercises of multiple choice and fill in the gap (grammar and/or Business English vocabulary).
The oral assessment will be a discussion about some business/political articles taken from The Financial Times.
