Learning objectives
The practical section of the course of EXPERIMENTAL PHARMACOLOGY aims to explain to the student some techniques used in in vitro pharmacological studies. In particular, the student will learn how to manipulate cell cultures and will participate in performing colorimetric assays for the evaluation of the cytotoxic activity of drugs. At the end of the course, the student will be able to propose the experimental approaches to be adopted in the characterization of drugs and to correctly and independently interpret the results obtained.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Pharmacology
Course unit content
In this section of the course the students will have the opportunity to observe the activity of manipulating cell cultures under a sterile biological hood. They will actively participate to the counting of the cells for seeding in the plate and in the preparation of a colorimetric assay for the evaluation of the cytotoxicity of drugs. They will also take care of processing the obtained data.
