Learning objectives

The educational goal of the learning is to draw up the complete design of a civil construction work.
The knowledge that the student will learn are the technical regulations relating to the field of building design.
The project to be prepared by the student follows a methodology of approach and process that can address different designs.
The student will be able to report and discuss the final design.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of at least one software program for engineering projects.

Course unit content

The course aims to provide the knowledge basis and the capability to apply it to the understanding and the operational aspects of the design and construction of buildings.
The lessons are focused on the general principles of the architecture and on the analysis of basic aspects of design, with particular reference to construction techniques in designing the built environment, particularly with regard to technical standards and prescriptions.
The exercises consist of the preparation of a project of a building for industrial use.
The architectural design cannot ignore the knowledge of materials, techniques and construction technologies, as well to comply with the regulations and prescriptions on building codes, health, urban and landscape for the construction of the building.
The quality of building design executive produces quality urban environment in its complex during the course will set the criteria at different scales of intervention: design, construction and management.
While Technical Architecture 1 focused on materials and constructive techniques, in this course the focus is geared more to verification and compliance with technical regulations specifications of the built environment.
The basic rules to be covered by the course are:
- Ministerial Decree 07/05/1975 (Requirements for construction and sanitation);
- L. 13/1989 and Ministerial Decree 236/89 (Regulations for the elimination of architectural barriers);
- L. 818/1984 and Presidential Decree 151/2011 (Regulations for the fire design of buildings);
- RUE (municipal regulations-Urban Planning Building Permits);
- L. 42/2004 (Restoration of buildings subject to historical or environmentally protective restrictions );
- L. 81/2008 (regulations on workplaces and construction sites);
- NIP - ASL (New Industrial Areas).

Teaching methods

The teaching methods used in the classroom in relation to the training objectives consist of lectures, design workshops, seminars and visits.

Assessment methods and criteria

The methods used to evaluate the student are: oral exam, preparation of a project report with typological comparisons.
As an example we report the criteria for an examination that includes written test and oral exam:
Check project 50% including:
- Knowledge and understanding
- Apply knowledge/ exercises (competence)
- Original applications of the theory (independent judgment)
Oral examination 50% including:
- Knowledge and understanding
- Communication skills
