Learning objectives
<br />Learn the fundamentals of the neurological exam and the basic principles of the neurological diagnostic process<br />Learn the principal concepts regarding major aspects of peripheral and central nervous system diseases.
Prerequisites
Have passed all exams from the previous year.

<br /> <br /><br />Neurological exam: principal neurological syndromes<br />Cranial nerves (in particular NC-VII)<br />Spasticity: etiology; physiopathology; pharmacological treatment<br />Botulinum toxin: mechanism of action and its applications in the treatment of major and minor dystonia and spasticity <br />Cerebral vasculopathy<br />Demyelinating disease<br />Peripheral neuropathy (Guillain Barre syndrome and other acquired and hereditary-degenerative forms)<br />Mononeuropathy, radiculopathy and plexopathy<br />Neuromuscular transmission defects: Myasthenia gravis<br />Myopathy<br />Degenerative diseases: (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, choreas, etc.)<br />Infectious diseases of the CNS (encephalitis; meningitis)<br />Myelopathy<br />Overview of nervous system neoplasia<br />Electrophysiological techniques (EEG, EMG, multimodal evoked potentials: principles of method and basic information).
