Learning objectives
The course aims to deepen the students’ understanding of the pathophysiology of the stomatognathic system in order to develop in students a critical skill on the topics covered, and therefore use the knowledge and understanding of diagnostic methods and instrumental, making the students assimilate the nature and use of the materials and technologies used in dentistry through a systematic exposition of laboratory procedures, chemical structure and physical characteristics of the materials and also the operating instructions and their manipulation with a particular interest in the development of innovative technologies.

Having attended the preparatory teachings of previous years
Course unit content
Provide students with knowledge on occlusion and the dental, masticatory function and the pathophysiology of the stomatognathic system. The students will understand the functions of the masticatory system: horizontal intermaxillary relations. Intermaxillary vertical relationship. Curves and occlusal planes. Mandibular movements. Types of functional occlusion. Articulators. Fingerprints and study models. Realization in the laboratory of fixed prostheses. Removable partial dentures. Principles of full denture and construction phases and laboratory.
Laws governing the professional dentists and dental technicians.
Aberrations, illegal and penalties.

Teaching methods
Lectures supplemented by discussion of topics in order to train students in critical skills on the topics and allow you to gain an understanding of issues related to technology and prosthetic dental laboratory, so to be able to solve the problems of the relationship dentist-dental technician.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination to ensure the quality and level of knowledge and understanding of the course content and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to professional practice. The test will also evaluate the quality of student participation in class.
