Learning objectives

The course aims to develop an understanding of the basic European constitutional heritage and the foundations of the process of European constitutionalisation. To understand and assess this phenomenon it is deemed indispensable to resort to legal comparison in the field of constitutional law, both in terms of micro and macro comparison

Course unit content

The course will be held during the II semester, including an initial analysis of topics including the introduction, methods and purposes of legal comparison, then moving on to the study of other topics relating to the current key issues of constitutionalism. In this sense, the course will study the concept of the Constitution, as well as the relative concepts of revision and constitutional rigidity, then covering subjects within the new frontiers of European constitutionalism represented by the specific process underway for the current ratification of the Treaty to establish the European Constitution
