Learning objectives
The main goal of the course is to provide students the characteristics of individual sports, highlighting aspects of performance of the same. At the end of the course students should be able to learn about the teaching progression of technical gestures, as well as being able to identify the different aspects that influence the athletes performance.

Course unit content
Sports performance and sports situation: definition and characteristics.
Goodwill and specialization in individual sports.
The models of performance in individual sports.
Classification of types of force.
Evaluation methods for resistance and strength.
Teaching, regulations and design methodology of the following sports:
(a) swimming (arbitrage and penalties, crawl dorsal and ventral, frog, dolphin, individual races with mixed styles, synchronized swimming);
(b) martial arts (judo, karate);
(c) gymnastics (male and female tools, regulations, scores and referees, rhythmic gymnastics);
(d) athletics (speed races, relay races, obstacle courses, middle-distance races, resistance races, jumps, throws, combined events);
(e) weightlifting (competition field and tools, specialty, regulation and score).

Teaching methods
Frontal and practical lessons according to the schedule defined at the beginning of academic year. Students attending class will be actively involved in discussions about scientific articles proposed during the course.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment consists in practical lessons, oral interview and written test on topics covered during the course.
