Learning objectives

The first part of the module aims to provide students with the foundation for knowing and understanding the essential elements of the methodology of scientific research in the field of obstetrics.
At the end of the educational path the student should have acquired the ability to apply knowledge and understanding of elementary aspects of the bibliographic research methodology. (FIESCHI)
The first lessons concern the Italian legislation relating to the PMA, the descriptive epidemiology of couple infertility, etiology, diagnostic pathways for the identification of the causes, the illustration of medically assisted procreation techniques, even outside the Italian territory . any complications related to ovarian stimulation therapies are described.
I note on counseling in the preservation of fertility in cancer patients.
The second part of the course focuses on health gender: the impact of gender and of all the variables
characterize (biological, environmental, cultural
and socio-economic) on the physiology, pathophysiology
and the caratteristichecliniche disease. (Alfieri)

Course unit content

PART ONE (FIESCHI) The first lessons provide an introduction to scientific research, with reference to historical and ethical aspects,
the reliability of sources, primary and secondary sources. It will then proceed with the methodology of literature search in major databases. PART TWO (Alfieri) the first lessons concern the Italian legislation relating to the PMA, the descriptive epidemiology of couple infertility, etiology, diagnostic pathways for the identification of the causes, the illustration of medically assisted procreation techniques, even outside the Italian territory. any complications related to ovarian stimulation therapies are described.

Teaching methods

Lectures, classroom exercises and, depending on the availability, are scheduled lab visits

Assessment methods and criteria

Ongoing level of knowledge will be assessed according to the contribution of individual students during exercises. The final exam consists of an oral exam on the topics raised in the various modules of the Integrated Course. By questions regarding the content of the course it will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the content. By questions regarding prevention strategies and a care plan preparation it will be determined whether the student has achieved the aim of applying the knowledge acquired.
