Learning objectives

<br />The aim is to understand the biology of replication of the viruses, pathogens of the humans, the ability to give a productive infection, the different strategies of multiplication. Furthermore, tha ability to escape host defense, and, finally, the activation of a specific defense response.<br />

<br />General viral taxonomy.<br />Viral structures and morphology of virionic particles.<br />Different mode of multiplication, replication and production of mature virus particles.<br />Mechanisms of pathogenicity of human viruses.<br />Systematic taxonomy of human viruses.<br />Characteristics of “in vivo”infections performed by human viruses.<br />Viruses with DNA genome, RNA genome, positive and negative polarity.<br />Retroviruses.<br />DNA oncogenic viruses.<br />Antiviral compounds.<br />Vaccines.<br />Activation of host defense: innate or natural and specific humoral and cellular responses.<br />
