Teaching methods

The course is articulated in frontal classes and field exercises.
The frontal classes make up the theoretical foundation necessary to comprehend the urban phenomena, a subject that will be better analyzed through the study of a section of the Parma urban or provincial territory, which for its complexity, incorporate all the relevant elements for the understanding of the urban transformation in the modern and contemporary era.
The course will provide all the necessary materials and informations for the execution of the field work, a field work that will evolve in synergy with the course modules.
The course revisions, some of which will be performed in collegial form, constitute an invaluable moment of clarification and further study.

Assessment methods and criteria

The assessment will be carried out through:
- practical activities through which students manifest the degree of knowledge and mastery of the topics covered in the course;
- the drafting of group work that will focus on the analysis of the municipal planning instruments in force in a chosen Municipality;
- the final interview exam.
Verification is thus given:
Written exercises: 30% divided as follows:
conceptual correctness 20%
clarity 10%
Group work: 20% as follows:
correctness of the assessments made 15%
capacity-graphic exhibition 5%
Oral examination: 50% divided as follows:
theoretical appropriateness 35%
properties and clarity 15%

During the progress of the course, dates will be announced for the test of the completed work. The tests, in addition to provide the necessary deadline for the field work, will help in determine any analysis problems by the students, problems that could be made up with further work both theoretical and practical.

Other information

It is recommended to attend the course and the exercises which will be
periodically carried out in the classroom.
