Learning objectives

Provide the student with a basic knowledge of the key terms and concepts in geographical knowledge and with an introduction to the geographical regions of Europe.

Course unit content

<br />Title: Processes of globalization and new identities: the importance of the geographical approach <br /><br /><br />Module A (5 credits). The first part of the course will present a synthetic overview of the main themes in current geographical research, with a particular attention to the most innovative fields, such as postmodernism in geography, the geography of complexity, Geographic Information Systems, etc. In the second part of the course we will approach the sense of belonging to a place and the new institutional forms of citizenship. Within a panoramic analysis of the European Union, we will study the new social energies related to the local level, the new connotations of the regional scale, the critical difficulties of the traditional national geopolitical level. <br /><br />
