Learning objectives
The course will provide students with the basic knowledge of the spanish literature, in particular of the Siglo de Oro and an accurate perception of gender-related issues. Information and opinions offered to help tie deeds to the historical period in which they were written and the problems related to it.During the course the student learns the fundamentals a:
- study authors, works, and ideas of the Spanish literature of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries; and the cultural and historical-political context-in which lie.
-understand and follow, based on the data collected, the analysis of a literary text that presents a linguistic and literary complexity
-find independent information on the subject using the bibliography both digital-print prove its ability to expose in Italian-with coherence, logic and appropriate language issues addressed.
-demonstrate an understanding of linguistics that corresponds to a level B2.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the Spanish language and Spanish literature of the origins
Course unit content
The course is held in Italian language and will address basic issues of Spanish literature, is on the side of the authors of the works and their fortune. The first lessons will be geared to a more general framework, aimed at defining the landscape of various kinds (and sub-genres) starting from fiction, to continue with the poetry and the theater. In these last areas we find authors such as Góngora and Quevedo (representatives of complementary modalities ' conceptismo ' and ' culteranismo ') or as Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina and Calderón – for just a few of the Seventeenth century’s Spanish names linked, respectively, to the renewal of comedy, to the creation of the character of Don Juan, to the issues of life as a dream/representation. The second part of the course will be given instead to direct significant texts reading – translated into Spanish class – will be addressed in the wider context of the work, the author's biography and the characteristics of the century. Read parts of the themes will be reported, the stylistic mode, purpose, etc. The description of the literary and historical context will always be accompanied by a detailed analysis of the texts. As commented in class student will be integrated with the study of a short historical-literary profile del Siglo de Oro, in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth centuries and some works (bilingual version), which will be listed by the teacher and will be visible at the end of the course, both on the website and in paper version at the headquarters of the foreign languages and literatures’s Area.

Teaching methods
In the classes, held in Italian, the teacher will use both reference bibliography of course that more paper or visual materials to the authors and the kind analyzed in more general historical-literary context. The course will be accompanied by readings in Spanish, with the aim of offering a broader and different perspective of knowledge that allows the student to compete with its ability to understand and be stimulated towards a vision wide literary phenomenon.
Assessment methods and criteria
The verification of knowledge and skills is through the oral exam in English language. The knowledge and skills that you want to verify are:
-knowledge of authors, works and literary movements of the period in question and their historical context.
-ability to study independently, store, synthesize, rework and expose the topics covered in the course, expressing themselves appropriately. Ability to solve problems related to information retrieval and the decoding of classical texts.
-corresponding to a linguistic competence level B2.
Failure assessment is determined by lack, demonstrated by the student in the oral test, to express themselves appropriately, inability to solve problems related to information retrieval and the decoding of classical texts. An adequate evaluation (from 18 to 23/30) is determined by the student demonstration of learning the basic content of the course and his ability to understand a language level B2; by a sufficient level of both independent preparation of ability of solving problems relating to the retrieval of bibliographic information. Average scores are awarded to the student who can prove that they have a more than adequate (24 and 25/30) or good (26 and 27/30) evaluation indicators listed above. The highest scores (from 28 to 30 and 30/30 cum laude) are awarded when the student demonstrates a very good to excellent level of evaluation indicators.
