Learning objectives

Students will gain a good knowledge of twentieth-century literature and in-depth skills in analysing and commenting upon the phenomenon of women’s writing in the last century. <br />

Prerequisites

Good knowledge of French. The course is taught in French. <br />

Women’s writing in twentieth-century France <br />
<br />
Through the works of some particularly emblematic female writers of twentieth-century literature, such as Colette, Nathalie Sarraute, Simone de Beauvoir, Margherite Yourcenar and Marguerite Duras, the course aims to illustrate one of the major new developments of the twentieth century: the proliferation of women’s writing, albeit with different aims and purposes. <br />
