Learning objectives

Aims: to give students a juridic culture based on the old history of law in Europe as an essential conceptual tool in the training of any legal professional.

Course unit content

The course is intended to give a perspective of the European juridic experience from the early Middle Ages till today, with specific attention to the experience of jus commune and to the reforming phase of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The course will concern the jus proprium developing process and its relationship with jus commune through time.

The History of Italian Law is a two-year course. Students can take a single exam at the end o f the second year. At the end of the first year students can also take an intermediate exam about the explained part of the program. The mark is a part of the final one.
