Learning objectives
The course objective is to "provide" students with adequate knowledge of the theoretical and methodological foundations of developmental psychology. It is expected that students become able to identify the key concepts underlying the various theories of development and reconnection with appropriate methodologies. For each theory, you should be able to recognize the salient features of the research methods, distinguishing experimental research from non-experimental, correlational from the observation that according to theories for which they are made.

Course unit content
The aim of the course is to make students more competent than the theoretical and methodological bases of the development of psychology as a separate discipline from its origins to the present scientific status. Particular attention will be given to methods of developmental assessment and observation of the child.
Full programme
Will be discussed the basic concepts of research methodology, focusing on both general issues and those relevant to the study of subjects in the age of development, we will review the major theories of psychological development. In particular, we will focus on the theory and theories of cognitive development proposed by Piaget, Vygotsky and HIP approach. Will also be presented the views classics and latest in the study of various areas of development: the development of language, the emotional competence, the perceptual and motor development in the social context.

Teaching methods
A lesson topics are treated in their general aspects and in an order that does not necessarily reflect that of the chapters of the books. Classroom space also will be given to: a) investigation and clarification at the request of students, b) screening and discussion of audiovisual c) reading and critical commentary articles d) simulation of assessment tests.
Assessment methods and criteria
The examination includes:
• a written test;
• an oral examination, to be accessed after passing the written test.
