Course unit content

Starting from the needed theoretical bases, the study of some classical structural elements, both in steel and reinforced concrete, is then faced, always focusing on their structural role in the building process.
The lectures will also illustrate the specific Italian building codes, in particular as far as the loads definition is regarded.
The criteria for the structural safety assessment are also inspected, with particular reference to the "permissible stresses method". This method is then adopted to perform some technical assessments of recurring structural elements.
